Anything interesting to do in Florida? [11 Jan 2008|11:45am]
I'm in the mood to get out. Travel. See new things. Old buildings. Cool environments. etc.

I've walked St. Augustine, Florida for years and years, and the history and sights are always interesting and fun.School Four is fun in all it's oldness and history. Roaming the streets and shops of Fernandina Beach, Florida is nice. And roaming through old Savannah, Georgia is like a huge version of downtown St. Augustine, so that's always interesting. Cassadaga, Florida is interesting with it's spiritual history, but unless you're investing some haunts there, just roaming the streets there is a bit boring. North Carolina had some interesting places, like the Devil's Stomping Grounds where nothing would grow in the circle and fires wouldn't stay lit, as well as old battlefields up there and 'haunted' covered bridges, etc.. but that's a bit of a drive. All those things are fun, but I've been there and done that. I want to go somewhere new. See new things!

And I'd love to go back to Key West again.. see the sun rise or set again over the water. See the old sites. All the old lighthouses. Roam the beaches of Key Biscayne, etc. But that'll take at least a whole weekend and gas money. That's something I'd have to plan.

But is there anything close? North East Florida? Or anywhere near here? Anything fun? Interesting? Old run down buildings? Places with history? Huge structures? Places with cool sights? Weird and interesting buildings? etc.

Or even something in Southern Georgia maybe. As long as it's not toooo far. I just wanna go something. See new things. Be in new places.

Any ideas? =D

Some places I'd like to go.. [11 Jan 2008|11:46am]
Bok Sanctuary & Tower

I've wanted to go here for years! The creator, Bok, commissioned fellow Philadelphian, architect Milton B. Medary, to design and build the majestic carillon tower. Medary drew his main inspiration from the Gothic towers and churches of Europe, but wanted to adapt his design to the characteristics of the Florida landscape. It was completed in 1929. It's down just past Orlando, FL. I'll make it there some day!

The tower is a centerpiece for the gardens around it:

Pretty!

Coral Castle

And old man built this on his own in the 1920's. It took 28 years to build. It's down past Miami though, so maybe if I ever make it down that way again, I can stop there! =)

There's loads more.. but those are just two that come to mind and that I could find online.

Any other places you know of? =D

Hanging with ghostly peoples at the beach [11 Jan 2008|01:38pm]
I may be heading to Jacksonville Beach tonight.

In 2006 I was part of / helped start up a new ghost investigative group that was forming. But it didn't last very long. My life got in the way and I couldn't be a part of it as I had hoped.. and eventually the group faded.

But the person who helped form that group, made a meetup.com group. It's gained more and more members over time. It's not really what I'd call an all out investigative 'team'. It's just a group of people who enjoy getting together and chatting about paranormal subjects. But they have done investigations (Old Jail in St. Augustine, Spanish Military Hospital in St. Augustine, etc.). I've been wanting to be more a part of it for awhile now.. and they've wanted me to as well.. but it just never got around to happening.

But tonight they're having a meeting at a coffee house at the beach. And Austin and I may pop in. Hopefully get more into it all and become a better part of the group.

So if you're at the beaches and wanna hang out, if we decided to go, we'll be around! =)
