Last weekend I was in St. Augustine experiencing the old Spanish Military Hospital, which I wrote about here.
This weekend I will be down there again roaming the old streets.
The weekend after that I will be at an old Timucuan Preserve / plantation area.
And after that, will possibly be checking out the old King House in Mayport, Florida.
I've been wanting to get into there for years now. And was sooo close once, had it all set up and ready to go, but at the last minute the owner canceled. The owner is old and goes to bed early, and isn't too keen on people staying there all night to investigate. But looks like we'll get in this time. It's a two story house built over 100 years ago, and is a popular "haunted house" in the area. My mom, when she was little, used to actually go there sometimes and listen to Mr. King tell about all the weird things that go on there. There's loads of stories, from a ghost that is seen in the kitchen, to a butler ghost who opens the door for people, and a rocking chair where, it's said the aunt to Mr. King was killed there, rocks by itself. And Duke University has even sent investigators there who deemed the place as having odd activity going on.
Is it still an active place? I don't know. We'll see. If nothing else, will be nice to finally be able to get into and experience the historic landmark.
